Prakash Hebalkar

Dr. Prakash Hebalkar is Founder/President of Mumbai-based corporate strategy consulting firm, ProfiTech. Dr. Hebalkar is widely known in India and internationally for the key role he played within the Tata Group (Tata Consultancy Services) in pioneering software exports from India in the mid-1970's and later for developing Tata Burroughs (now known as Tata Infotech) from its inception in 1978 into the nation’s largest software exporter in just five years.

Dr. Hebalkar is the author of several innovative economic and public-policy concepts. He has served as an international adviser on public policy to the United Nations and WIPO as well as the Government of India. He currently works with Dr. Partho Shome on the development and implementation of IT strategy for India’s Ministry of Finance.

Dr. Hebalkar obtained a PhD in Computer Science and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the U.S.
